It Takes a Village

by | May 4, 2023 | Blog

You are probably familiar with the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Although I’m no longer a child, I still rely on that village philosophy for achieving success in life.

I can’t point to any success in my life and say that I accomplished it entirely alone.

Sometimes I asked for help, and sometimes others jumped into action when they saw I needed help.

Over the years, I’ve learned to be more intentional about identifying what “villagers” I needed in my life and in what ways I needed their help. I have created my village of support, filled with people I trust and respect. Below are some of the roles in my village:

  • Professional Development Coaches: People that challenge me and help push me out of my comfort zone so I continuously learn
  • Balanced Life Partners: People that point out when I need to take a break and rebalance my priorities
  • Fun Committee: The crew I call on when I’m taking those much-needed breaks
  • Financial Advisors: People that help me with my short-term and long-term financial decisions
  • Health Committee: People that share healthy lifestyle lessons, join me in healthy activities, and hold me accountable
  • Inspirational Mentors: People I call on when I need a pick-me-up or to help stimulate new ideas
  • Business Coaches: People I consult with to help me build my business
  • Cheerleaders: People that unconditionally support me and lift me up, even when I screw up
  • Sounding Board: People that provide feedback and help build on my ideas

This week I want to encourage you to look at your support network and consider what roles you need to add. Tap into your village when you need them and be a villager for someone else.

Wishing you the best!

Amy
