When I was a teenager learning to drive, I was nervous and struggled to keep the car in the lane without overcorrecting.
I was frustrated, and I’m sure the other drivers didn’t want to be near me!
I’ll never forget the advice my dad gave me. He said, “Amy, your focus is too narrow. Look further ahead down the road.”
As soon as I shifted my focus, I became more relaxed. Steering was easier, and I started to ENJOY being in the driver’s seat.
You can probably see where I’m going with this story.
When our focus is too narrow and short-term, it’s more challenging to navigate the “potholes” and detours we encounter along our journey.
We start getting frustrated by those little challenges, which can lead to burnout.
We might even find ourselves overcorrecting and making it unpleasant for others to be around us!
So, I’m going to share my dad’s sage advice with you.
