Is Your Focus Too Narrow?

by | Mar 4, 2021 | Blog

When I was a teenager learning to drive, I was nervous and struggled to keep the car in the lane without overcorrecting.

I was frustrated, and I’m sure the other drivers didn’t want to be near me!

I’ll never forget the advice my dad gave me.  He said, “Amy, your focus is too narrow.  Look further ahead down the road.”

As soon as I shifted my focus, I became more relaxed.  Steering was easier, and I started to ENJOY being in the driver’s seat.

You can probably see where I’m going with this story.

When our focus is too narrow and short-term, it’s more challenging to navigate the “potholes” and detours we encounter along our journey.

We start getting frustrated by those little challenges, which can lead to burnout.

We might even find ourselves overcorrecting and making it unpleasant for others to be around us!

So, I’m going to share my dad’s sage advice with you.

LOOK FURTHER AHEAD DOWN THE ROAD.

  • Do you have a long-term personal vision?
  • Do you know what motivates you and how to tap into those motivators while working towards your vision?

I use these powerful tools to energize me and adjust my focus when I get frustrated by those darn “potholes” in life.

If you need help with this, I have a couple of programs starting soon!

  • Motivators Training: During this FREE virtual training, we’ll review the seven dimensions of motivation and discuss how to leverage them to achieve your goals. You can learn more and register here.
  • Group Coaching Program for Women: Watch this video or check out this webpage to learn more.

Wishing you the best!

Amy
