I use a lot of principles from positive psychology when coaching clients and delivering training programs.
One of my favorites is the “Poetic Principle,” which can be summed up as:
What you focus on GROWS
No experience has meaning until we assign it. A situation can be interpreted as positive or negative depending on the meaning WE CHOOSE to give it.
So, if you’re having a bad day and you focus on everything going wrong, you are contributing to the negative energy and will likely continue in the downward spiral.
However, if you intentionally seek out and find the positive aspects of your situation, soon you’ll find your day improving!
If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.
Let me say that again….
If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.
I encourage you to intentionally focus on the positive this week and see what kind of impact it has on you.
If you find yourself being negative, complaining, or getting caught up in gossip, shift your lens.
This is powerful stuff!
Shifting your focus to seek out the positive in every situation elevates your mood, opens up possibilities, and leads you to take positive actions and achieve positive results.
Wishing you the best!
