One of my favorite college classes was a senior-level project-based program where we designed educational exhibits for nature centers. (By the way, my first career was in forestry, but that’s a story for another day.) In that program, our professor relentlessly instilled a profound concept in us: “Everything Sends a Message.”
His emphasis extended beyond the realms of colors, visuals, fonts, materials, and exhibit placement. I’ve carried the “Everything Sends a Message” mantra with me throughout my career and personal life ever since.
Consider, for a moment, how this mantra applies to your personal brand:
Everything sends a message, whether it’s…..
- Your word choice
- Your non-verbal body language
- Your attire
- Your response to challenging situations
- Your social media presence
- The way you choose to support others
- How you demonstrate living by your values
This list goes on and on, but I think you get the idea.
So, ask yourself: What messages do you project? Are they congruent with the brand you aspire to represent?
Over the next few weeks, I will dive into personal branding and provide you with insights for creating and enhancing your brand.
Do you know someone that could benefit from this? Invite them to subscribe to my weekly emails.
Wishing you the best!
