Are You the Balloon or the Plane?

As summer winds down and we enter “back to school” season, it’s a perfect time to reconnect with your “why” and reinvigorate your energy towards your career and life.

I coach clients to develop a clear and compelling vision of what they want out of their careers and life. We pick a timeframe, usually ten years from now, and they write a vision narrative that describes what their life WILL look like in that year.

Yes, it’s challenging work and takes a few months to complete. And throughout the process, I witness their transformation as they fill with optimism and enthusiasm about the future they desire and start getting into action to achieve that vision.

If you have a vision narrative, I encourage you to take it back out, review it and continue to refine it. Reconnect with the passion you felt when you first composed it, and reclaim your “why” for getting out of bed every morning.

This stuff really works!

In fact, I wrote my vision narrative four years ago and have ACHIEVED many of the things included in it. Did I mention I chose a ten-year timeline for it? Yes, that’s right, I thought it would take at least ten years to get here, and I arrived six years early.

I’m not a time traveler. I have a vision that propels me to take the necessary action to get what I want out of my career and life.

Think of it like a balloon versus an airplane. A balloon floats in whatever direction the wind blows and eventually lands in a random and unexpected place once it runs out of helium.

A plane sets a course to a specific destination. It’s not always a smooth flight – there might be delays, turbulence, re-routing, or other challenges that get in the way, but it eventually arrives at that destination.

Do you want your career and life to follow the path of the balloon or the plane?

I’m here for you if you need support. Feel free to book a complimentary consultation if you want to talk.

Wishing you the best!

Amy
